Das Team Vehikel hat sich eigens für die Klangmanifeste formiert, um mehrere energieautarke klingende Gefährte zu entwickeln, die an zwei Veranstaltungstagen im öffentlichen Raum zwischen Echoraum und Mutzenbacher durch die Straßen ziehen werden. Modifizierte Fahrräder mit dynamobetriebenen Klangerzeugern aus analoge Schaltungen wurden im Setzkasten Wien, der Bike Kitchen und dem Kunstkanal entwickelt. Inszenierte Bewegungsabläufe von Performer*innen wirken wie organische Impulse auf das Ausgangsmaterial zu minimal_Bodies. Mittels Handy-Kamera scannen die Performer*innen Teile ihrer Körper, die zu rasterförmigen, oszillierenden Linien und stroboskopartigem Flackern gefiltert werden. Es entsteht ein Effekt der Überblendung, wobei das konkrete Bild aus der Abstraktion hervortritt.
minimal_Bodies ist die Verbindung von Licht, Sound, Körper und Raum im Rahmen von small forms sessions. Conny Zenk entwickelt in einer mehrteiligen Konzertreihe und Record Session in Kooperation mit Musiker*innen von small forms sessions eine Serie an Improvisationen und audio-visuelle Releases.
Stop Motion Film Workshop im Verein JUHU! – Jugend Hilfswerk der Familie Ume
An fünf intensiven Workshoptagen haben wir uns spielerisch mit
dem Verhältnis von Macht und Ohnmacht auseinandergesetzt und dabei
gemeinsam Filme gemacht.
Neue Tools und Techniken entdecken und lernen. Eigene Geschichten erzählen, erfinden und realisieren.
Gearbeitet wurde mit der Stop Motion Technik, die es mit einfachen Mitteln ermöglicht Welten zu erschaffen, die sonst filmisch nur sehr aufwendig realisierbar wären. Unterschiedliche Techniken der Stop Motion Animation wurden ausprobiert und mit verschiedensten Materialien experimentiert. Danach wurden Geschichten erzählt und besprochen, in der Gruppe erarbeitet und als kurze Filme realisiert.
Dabei wurden Tablets und freie Software verwendet, die alle auch auf ihren Smartphones installieren können, um auch nach dem Workshop weitere Stop Motion Filme zu machen.

A blending of heritage architecture and 3d animations, guiding the audience to observe the architecture of a building and to find new viewpoints and maybe hidden stories. The house of Huang Family (1869-1937) is an example of the change in time through city development. Huang former residence is a starting point of the video installation as well as nowadays relocated and situated at the entrance of China City Mall.
The audience is invited to share their stories and memories of Xiamen City. Thoughts are collected in a booklet, drawn by the participants during a 15 minutes performance. The performance is for 2 people only and set up on a coffee table in X-Space bookstore, the former house of Huang Family.

Mapping Zhongshan Road führt das Publikum zur Klangerkundung elektromagnetischer Felder in den öffentlichen Raum. Unter Anleitung und Moderation werden die Teilnehmer*innen eingeladen mittels ihrem eigenen Smartphone die Stadt aus einer anderen visuellen als auch akustischen Perspektive zu entdecken.
Digitale Geräte wie Smartphones sind im urbanen Raum vor allem Speicher unserer Erlebnisse, Navigations- und Orientierungshilfen, sowie Kommunikationstools auf Reisen. Die fiktionale Welt bestimmt immer mehr unsere Wahrnehmung, wird zu einem Raster. In diesem Raster oder Schemata bestimmen andere die die Applikationen programmieren, unser Handeln – unsere Posen und Gesten werden zunehmend von Smartphones gesteuert. Es entsteht eine, die alltäglichen Prozesse durchdringende Mediatisierung und Gleichzeitigkeit, sowie Überwachung und Kontrolle in Echtzeit.
The art project Mapping Zhongshan Road focus on a specific area and architecture in the city center of Xiamen. By audio-visual methods and live performances, the architecture of Zhongshan Road, such as the arcade buildings, will function as a stage and display: abstract urban animations create a digital assemblage of Zhongshan road, the city emerges from the multiple layers of the audio-visual information. Overlaying creates an effect of blending, whereby the concrete image is very much abstracted.
Mapping Zhongshan Road is playing with the concept of performance in public space. Conny Zenk invites the audience to join the area around Zhongshan Road for ‘secret’ live performances. By using mobile projectors and various microphones mounted within the architecture of Zhongshan Road, the audience is invited to a new perspective of seeing and listening the city.

Das EU-Projekt CENTRIPHERY startete mit einem Kick-Off-Meeting in Perg, Oberösterreich. Ziel des interdisziplinären
Projekts ist es, lokale Mythen und Geschichten in Hinblick auf unsere
heutige Gesellschaft zu entdecken und untersuchen und gemeinsame
regionale, zeitgenössische und europäische Narrative zu entwickeln. Partizipativ
arbeiten internationale und lokale KünstlerInnen und BürgerInnen in den
beteiligten Regionen zusammen. So entstehen in neun europäischen
Regionen gemeinsame Kunst- und Kulturprojekte.
Zum ersten Mal ist das FESTIVAL DER REGIONEN Projektträger in einem
europäischen Projekt. Die Partnerorganisationen sind: New Culture
Foundation (Bulgarien), Dansehallerne (Dänemark), Espoo City Theatre
(Finnland), La Manufacture Collectif Contemporain (Frankreich), Rijeka
2020 (Kroatien), Cultura Nova Festival (Niederlande), Walk & Talk
(Azoren, Portugal) und Prin Banat (Rumänien).
Das erfolgreiche Auftaktreffen brachte alle Partner in Perg zusammen.
Neben der Logistik und Kommunikation lag der Schwerpunkt auf
methodologischen Workshops zwischen der künstlerischen Leitung, den
Partnern und dem künstlerischen Kernteam. Das Kernteam besteht aus zwei
Künstlern, die von der jeweiligen Partnerorganisation nominiert worden
sind. Die Mitglieder des künstlerischen Kernteams werden über einen
Zeitraum von 3,5 Jahren in verschiedenen Konstellationen
zusammenarbeiten. Das Projekt wird durch das EU-Programm Kreatives
Europa kofinanziert.
Das FESTIVAL DER REGIONEN nominierte die beiden Künstlerinnen Cornelia Scheuer und Conny Zenk.
Conny Zenk ist eine österreichische Spezialistin in der Video- und
Medienkunst. Sie konzentriert sich auf Themen wie Soziale Medien,
Migration, Gender und Feminismus sowie urbane, architektonische und
räumliche Konzepte. Zenk spielt mit dem Konzept der Wahrnehmung und dem,
was nicht sichtbar ist. Ihre Arbeit wird umrahmt von digitalen Methoden
im Kontext sozialer und politischer Fragestellungen. Sie hat sehr viel
Erfahrung mit partizipativen Arbeitsmethoden und in der Leitung von
Workshops mit jungen Menschen.
Cornelia Scheuer ist eine österreichische Performerin, Choreographin,
Regisseurin und Rollstuhlexpertin. Sie ist Mitbegründerin von
Bilderwerfer, ein inklusives Performance-Unternehmen, und hat Erfahrung
in der Arbeit mit selbst entwickelten Projekten mit professionellen und
nicht-professionellen Darstellern. Ihre Soloarbeiten fokussieren den
Körper und verschiedenste Formen von Begabung und Empowerment.
FEMALE BODIES on poems, philosophy, science, pirates and literature.
#FemWALK of Kulangsu is critically adapted to the format of a historic city walk. The focus is on the visibility of intellectual women, as well as their work and effect on China. In terms of Appropriation Art #FemWALK of Kulangsu the tourist do as they normally would and go with the classic equipment such as flags, audio guides and headsets through the historic center of Kulangsu. The central starting point is the interaction within the group: by means of media interventions, performances and video projections are taken along a specific route experiencing the biographies and artistic works of inspiring female personalities. Different stations connect the stories of Kulangsu with those of their female protagonists. #FemWALK of Kulangsu draws a multi-layered image of memory and tells of poetry, piracy, science, activism and literature while the city is observed through walking and our own bodies.
On
the search for stories about local female quotes and thoughts. These
are quite often not as visible as they should be even more exciting
it is to discover them.
The
public space is full of stories that affect us consciously and
unconsciously. We are moving through the streets, we find places that
catch our attention and sometimes we meet people whose stories change
our perception: Exploring the city meets memory. Records and thoughts
from another time, just have their still enduring validity that does
not lose its topicality. Along the way, we track down quotes, lyrics
and poetry which were addressed to a certain public. We meet a
renowned Chinese doctor and scientist Lin Qiao Zhi, who was born in
Kulangsu and became the first female physicist of China. Lin Qiao Zhi
conducted her scientific work and research in 1933, among others, in
Vienna. Not far from the Yu Garden, which was created in honor of the
scientist, is a school today where activist and poet Qiu Jin was
taught for eleven years. Qiu Jin is the first Chinese feminist who
championed gender equality, education and emancipation, she wrote
numerous essays and poems in which they explore a wide range of
metaphors and allusions. Shu Ting, also born in Gulangyu, is one of
China’s best-known poets and was part of the „Misty Poets“
who actively opposed the restrictions of art during the Cultural
Revolution. We move through Kulangsu, pulling the sails towards the
sea and lastly, we encounter the story of the pirate Ching Shih –
with words and texts of impressive personalities, we travel back to
the present.
SHU
TING, born 1952 grown up in Kulangsu, Chinese poet associated with
the Misty Poets. During the Cultural Revolution she was sent to the
countryside until 1972. She began to write poetry in 1969 and her
work was published in Today
magazine among others (Jīntiān).
She
was asked to join the official Chinese Writers‘ Association,and
won the National Outstanding Poetry Award in 1981 and 1983. Her
poetry is tender, soft and very personal; she brings the feminine
point of view to contemporary Chinese poetry.
LIN
QIAO ZHI (1901-1983), Chinese obstetrician and gynecologist, born in
Kulangsu. Dr. Lin was a model teacher, as well as writer and editor,
her compassion and dedication won the hearts of men and women alike,
many of whom named babies after her. In 1955, she became the first
female member of the Learned Department of Academia Sinica. In 1959,
she took up the position of director of the Beijing Maternity
Hospital, as well as deputy director of the Chinese Academy of
Medical Sciences.
QIU
JIN (1875-1907), Chinese feminist poet and writer, educated in
Kulangsu for eleven years, later she went for studies to Japan. Qiu
Jin is the founder of Vernacular
Journal
(Baihua
Bao),
In one issue, Qiu wrote a manifesto entitled „A
Respectful Proclamation to China’s 200 Million Women Comrades“,
where she lamented the problems caused by bound feet and oppressive
marriages. In 1906 she founded a women’s journal with another female
poet, Xu Zihua, called China
Women’s News
(Zhongguo
nü bao).
CHING SHIH (1775-1844), pirate in the middle Qing China, Red Flag Fleet, 300 ships of 20.000-40.000 pirates. Ching Shih developed an existing pirate code into a system of laws and bureaucracy. She even created a sophisticated system for dividing up booty, and laid out strict rules on the treatment of female captives. For years, the Red Flag Fleet under Ching Shih’s rule could not be defeated, neither by Qing dynasty Chinese officials nor by Portuguese or British bounty hunters.

RAD Performance A CITY OR OUR OWN verhandelt Orte und Räume, die diese Frauen geprägt haben. Von den Wohn- und Arbeitsplätzen, über die öffentlichen Orte für Demonstrationen und Kundgebungen zu Safe Spaces unserer Gegenwart geht es zurück in die Geschichte der Kaffeehauskultur und der Wiener Moderne. Wir begegnen der Geschichte des Alten AKH und dem Tor der heimlich Schwangeren. Wir erinnern an die vernichtende Zeit des Nationalsozialismus, aber auch an die weibliche Gegenöffentlichkeit die durch Salons und die Sichtbarkeit von Frauen heute und damals geschaffen wird. Die RADS erkunden mit euch die Stadt und zeigen eine neue Perspektive. In Gedanken an die Vergangenheit und mit einem kritischen Blick in die Zukunft bewegen wir uns durch die Straßen und hinterlassen eine Spur feministischer Stadtgeschichte. A CITY OF OUR OWN.
